Modifications proposed to Wisconsin Statutes 704.90 Self-service storage facilities were passed into law by Governor Doyle. These changes will better protect the self storage owner in the event of a lien sale. The changes are in response to a 2008 Wisconsin court case involving the definition of a "commercially reasonable" lien sale. In this case, a Wisconsin jury ruled against Public Storage and awarded $400,000 to a former storage renter. Click here to view the updated legislation. Thank you to all those contacted their legislators to get this bill passed!
